Multi-Age Spanish

Hello and welcome to my e-portfolio!  My name is Ann Shanda.  I am from Columbus, Ohio and graduated as a valedictorian of Northland High School. I am currently a sophomore at the College of Wooster majoring in Spanish with a minor in Education while pursuing my licensure in Multi-Age Spanish education. I love both the Spanish language and working with students in any capacity.

In addition to my coursework, I am involved in the Scot Marching Band, Scot Symphonic Band, and Circle K International, the college branch of the Kiwanis family of service organizations.  Through Circle K, I have had the opportunity to work with pre-school and elementary students.  My recent field experience in the Introduction to Education course gave me the opportunity to work with high school students.  Ideally, I would like to teach in an urban high school environment, but any kind of teaching experience has value, regardless of the age or location of the student taught.  With its mix of challenge and adventure, routine and spontaneity, I believe teaching is one of the most rewarding professions.  I want to make a difference in the world and I believe that teaching allows me the opportunity to do so.

"If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job."~Donald D.
